Life in this moment…

{entertaining, odd, and hopefully not too far away from reality}

I love Haiti… June 18, 2008

We’re back in the states…i’ve just treated myself, my bed, my car, and my clothes for scabbies…and now life goes on.

It was an incredible trip. I’ll post all the updates on facebook…if you’d like to read them. They are pretty entertaining and give you a good glimpse of what we did while we were there.

Some things that changed in me while on this trip.
1. I want to recognize the blessings in my life…more than the annoying stuff. (I’ve been home 24 hours and already failed…but I am going to keep working on it)
2. I am going to advocate for Gertrude’s orphanage…I believe in what she is doing as she cares for these little ones until they’re adopted and I am convinced that I know enough people to provide meat and vegetables to these kids along with good sheets, children’s medicines, and some toys.
3. I am grateful for my new awareness of how competitive I can become, and I want to surrender that.
4. It is not enough to go to Haiti once a year…

For the next 6 days I am going to be in the lovely country of Haiti. After needing to postpone our trip in April, Rachel and I decided to book a quick trip down to Port au Prince for June and we’ll also be joining the rest of our team on the work trip in November.

Rachel and I plan to do some work at Gertrude’s trade school (where she trains women in either sewing or cooking to help them find gainful employment) and then spend some time at House of Hope orphanage.

My heart is aflutter in excitement!

I plan to post pictures and keep y’all updated. If you’d like to receive updates while I’m gone e-mail me!
